Shannon Simons is our Assistant Principal.  His new duties are split between "Brown Elementary School" (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and here at Welch Elementary (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).  Prior to this assignment, Shannon worked as an Inclusion Coordinator for "The John S. Charlton School," as a teacher for students with special needs at Kent County Intensive Learning Center, based at W. B. Simpson Elementary School, both in the C. R. School District, and served as an ILC and Inclusion Teacher at William Henry Middle School in the Capital School District.  Preceding his work in Delaware, Shannon also worked as a teacher of exceptional children for two years in North Carolina. 

Shannon received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an academic minor in Criminal Justice Administration from Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, and a Master's Degree in Education from Wilmington University here in Dover, Delaware.  He is currently completing requirements for a second Master's Degree in Education Leadership from Wilmington University, having satisfied the coursework requirements for a Certificate in Administration at Wilmington University.

In his spare time, Shannon loves to play with his son, Jacob, who recently turned two, and spend time with his wife, Jennifer.
